Morningside is a well-established, gentrified suburb of Durban, KwaZulu-Natal. It is situated about 2km from the Indian Ocean on the south bank of the Umgeni River. Its neighbouring suburbs are Essenwood to the southwest, Windemere to the south and Stamford Hill to the east. Morningside is well known for its classical large Edwardian and Victorian styled homes with tin roofs and wide verandas. The State President’s official residence in Durban – King’s House – is also situated in Morningside.

Today Morningside ranks as one of Durban’s three most popular suburbs, the other two being Berea and Bulwer. Morningside’s tree-lined streets and easy accessibility to Durban make it even more attractive in terms of residential and commercial property.
Draw cards to the area include The Durban July, which is held annually at Greyville Racecourse and the Moses Mabhida Stadium. There are also a number of attractive parks including Jameson Park, Mitchell Park and Burman Bush Nature Reserve. It is home to the State Bank of India – India’s largest bank, ranked 60th on the world’s largest bank list.
